"Painting the Town" By Brianne Limani Junction City TRIBUNE June 17, 2010

Several empty storefronts are about to become showcases for local artists as the Eugene Storefront Art Project (ESAP) expands to Junction City.
The Eugene Storefront Art Project was organized by Marc "Time" Gunther with the help of local artists Paula Goodbar and Peter Herley as a means of connecting local art communities to downtown property owners by way of storefront art
and exhibitions in vacant commercial spaces.

To date, ESAP has done six installations with 12 artists throughout downtown Eugene. The project has helped generate
interest in local art and even helped some artists sell their works.

However, to get the ball rolling in Junction City, ESAP needs local artists submit their work. Anyone may submit whatever art they find
appropriate for public windows - installation art, sculpture, video, 2D visual art and any other media. ESAP encourages artists to
simply take pictures of their works and send them in.

Once ESAP receives submissions, they match the art to the specific venue available and the decision is left up to the storeowner.

Currently ESAP has secured three storefronts in Junction City for use during the Scandinavian Festival which will display photo
histories and pictures of past festivals. Also, the Little Junction Store on Sixth Avenue and Greenwood Streets will soon have an
exhibit by artist Jamie Hooper. ESAP is still looking to fill more storefronts in Junction City; any and all local artists are encouraged
to submit their work.

The application process is easy: send contact information (name, address, phone number, and email); a resume, bio or Website (where
you've shown, etc.); a proposal in which you describe your proposed work and how it would be displayed, the medium or media
you use, a brief statement of your vision and six to 12 images of your work to: paula.goodbar@gmail.com.

This is an ongoing process and artists will be selected as property becomes available. For more information, visit their blog at
http://esapblog.blogspot.com or find them on Facebook.

HOW TO SUBMIT ART

E.S.A.P. will be placing temporary art installations in vacant storefronts in Eugene, Junction City and Springfield. We would prefer Eugene and Lane County artists but this process is now open to everyone.
You may submit whatever you think would be appropriate for public windows: installation art, sculpture, video, 2D visual art. Take pictures of your stuff and just send them!
We will be matching the art to the specific venue available. Storeowners get to select what they want to use.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES:

1) Contact Information – Name, address, phone #, email

2) Resume/Bio/Website, where you’ve shown etc.

3) Proposal – Briefly Describe your proposed work and how it would be displayed, the medium or media you use and a brief statement of your vision

4) Email or Submit between 6-12 images of your work, JPEG and size it approx. to 4”x6”. Be sure to include title and dimensions of each piece.

SEND INFO TO: paula.goodbar@gmail.com

(that’s paulaDOTgoodbar at gmailDOTcom)
OR mail info along with a CD of images to:
Paula Goodbar
1443 Grant St.
Eugene OR 97402
This will be an ongoing process and artists will be selected as the properties become available. You will not be notified until a property becomes available that is suited for your work.
